Recent events move us further away from the "Euro-Atlantic" model of development. It did not take root before, but with the new situation within and around the country it became thrice as worse.
And it’s not just about the ruling elites - the society itself rejects it. Any liberal and pro-market reforms should now be carried out carefully - they can be easily killed in their “crib”. It is important to remember that "doing something fast is doing it slow, but with no stopping."

I tried to take a different look at China in the 1980s. If the example of this country is more understandable for the authorities, then it works as a case for “capitalism.” One just needs to read between the lines.
In short:
1) Stop theoretical disputes about "a single model of development of Kazakhstan." Don't care what it's called. Let's analyze what we tried earlier. If something worked on Kazakh soil, we go further in that direction. If not, we’ll stop doing that.
2) Country of experiments. We should quit the practice of a “smart” office-dweller giving orders to the whole country. Our country is too big, people and problems in different areas cannot have similar solutions. Let the regions compete in socio-economic programs. There are local communities, active citizens, the institute of maslikhats, etc. They even have their own budgets.
But we are a unitary country, and national security is of utmost importance. If there is a threat to integrity, then Akorda must send its best regards to troublemakers.
3) The sequence of reforms. You don't need to do "everything at once." We get support for reforms, we carry them out little-by-little, we make concessions, but we fight until the end for our principles.
All of the above requires wisdom and even "old age". "50+ year olds" are now very much needed, if not even "60+". Experience beats youth, especially if the system has “chewed up and spitten out” the person in question. The more the experience, the more benefits for the country.
A strong desire for freedom is the only thing that matters for that person.
